BREAKING: Rights lawyer, Effiong sentenced to one month in prison for contempt in Akwa Ibom

Inibehe Effiong (Esq), a human rights attorney, was sent to the state jail facility by Justice Ekaette Obot, the chief judge of Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday due to alleged contempt of court.

Before issuing the warrant for the conviction, Justice Obot stated that she had lost all patience with the excesses and disruptive behavior of the troubled attorney serving as Leo Ekpenyong’s defense attorney.

Ekpenyong is on trial for libel in a case brought by the state’s governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, and Mr. Effiong Dickson Bob.
