According to reports that ENTSTUFF received from Ogbomoso town in Oyo State, Gunmen kill hotelier, LAUTECH student, motorcyclist after collecting N5m ransom. Their captors have killed the recent abductees Olugbenga Owolabi and Rachael Opadele.

Opadele is a student at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), but she was working at the hotel because of the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike. Owolabi is a hotelier who recently moved back to Ogbomoso.

On July 29, 2022, the two were taken hostage at a motel in Ogbomoso’s Abaa neighborhood.

According to sources, the kidnappers had previously sought a ransom for the victims’ release.

But it was discovered that the two had perished.

The kidnappers reportedly shot them Tuesday night after receiving N5 million in ransom.

According to a family member who requested anonymity, the motorcycle that brought the man to the bush to pay the ransom was also killed on Wednesday.

According to information obtained by our journalist, the ransom carrier is currently being treated at an unnamed hospital, while the biker was fatally shot in self-defense.

According to the source, the ransom was brought to a bush along the Igbon region of the Ogbomoso-Ilorin route, where the kidnappers calculated the money to make sure it matched the agreed-upon sum.

It was discovered that the kidnappers grew irate when they realized there were soldiers in the LAUTECH region.

According to information obtained, soldiers entered Ogbomoso on Tuesday to offer security in response to the rising tides of kidnapping in the neighborhood.

The amount of N5 million was paid, according to the source, but the kidnappers nevertheless killed the couple and the motorcycle.

The source further stated that Igbon Police Division has been informed of the situation.

They were murdered by them. We dispatched someone who said they would deliver the ransom when they demanded it. A motorcycle rider who we saw said he may leave. We paid him the 5,000 naira he stated he would collect.

“However, the kidnappers killed them after receiving the ransom. I don’t want people looking for me, so please don’t mention my name. We have informed the Igbon police station about the incident.

Adewale Osifeso, the state police command’s public relations officer, promised to get back to our correspondent when reached.
