Following his red card in Ajax’s Dutch Super Cup loss to PSV Eindhoven last weekend, Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey has been given a two-game suspension.
In the 72nd minute of the game, Bassey was dismissed for making an unsportsmanlike tackle on an opponent.
The left-back entered the game at the Johan Cruyff Arena in the 62nd minute.
Ajax was defeated in a nail-biting 5-3 contest.
The 22-year-old will miss both the home game against Groningen on August 14 and the opening contest at Fortuna Sittard on Saturday.
Following a month-long stint with Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, Bassey joined Ajax.
