2022 Commonwealth Games: Edem, Bello, Oribamise Secure Wins In Table Tennis

Offiong Edem, Esther Oribamise, and Fatimo Bello, Team Nigeria’s top three players in women’s table tennis on day one of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, scored victories.

The Nigerians defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the doubles and two singles matches in the Women’s Team – Group 1 competition.

Edem and Bello defeated Unica Velox and Leah Cumberbatch of St. Vincent and the Grenadines 3-0 in the doubles.

Nigerians won the first set 11-6, the second and third sets, respectively, by scores of 11-2 and 11-2.

In the singles, Edem defeated Cumberbatch 3-0 (11-1, 11-2, 11-3) and Oribamise defeated Shanecia Delpesche of St. Vincent and the Grenadines 3-0 (11-1, 11-3, 11-2).

The other nations in Women’s Team – Group 1 are Singapore and the hosts, England.
